So... What is a Global Teaching Lab?
The MIT International Science and Technology Initiative (MISTI) created a program called the Global Teaching Labs (GTL). Through GTL, MIT students are able to travel around the world to teach students about various topics in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
This January, through GTL, I am teaching high school students in Perm, Russia about aerospace concepts. I am leading the class with a set of hands-on centers (like short curriculums) to help the students learn about the basics in a fun and hands-on manner. I am bringing a number of hand-made educational tools, like a wind tunnel and a Chladni plate. My goal is to engage the students and encourage them to continue learning!

Спасибо Большое! Thank You Very Much!
Such an incredible trip would not be possible without the support, hard work, and dedication of many people!
Thank you to the folks at MIT in the Russian and Eurasian Studies Department, Edgerton Center, and AeroAstro for helping make my trip a success. I would especially love to thank Katya Zabrovskaya for her enduring effort in organizing such an amazing opportunity; Maria Khotimsky for countless hours of patience in teaching me Russian language and culture; Elizabeth Wood for guiding me in how to make my trip meaningful and educational; Ed Moriarty for providing me with insight, and supplies for an engaging workshop; my friends for tolerating my incessant Russian babbling; my family for always encouraging me and loving me, and my mom, for letting me raid our basement for "bits and bobs" and helping devise creative solutions.
Спасибо большое to the amazing teachers at the Alexander Pushkin School #9 in Perm - your dedication, hospitality, and fantastic organization skills made my stay in Perm a remarkable experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. Thank you especially to Maria Sergeevna and Olga Vasilievna for their tireless support, behind-the-scenes work, and friendship!
Last but not least, a huge thank you to the Renova Foundation for funding my GTL experience. It is such a blessing to have an experience of this caliber without having to shoulder the financial burden.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
